Porabandar - Dwaraka - Bet Dwaraka - Somnath - GIR
DAY 01: ARRIVE IN PORABANDAR
Upon arrival at Porbandar airport meet with our representative and leave for Dwarka. Upon arrival check into the hotel. Dwarka is located on the western extremity of the peninsula of Kathiawar and is one of the four main Hindu pilgrim centers in India. His name is closely connected to the legend of Krishna, that allegedly established his capital after fleeing from Mathura.Almost never included in travel plans in Gujarat, Dwarka, however, for the Hindu religion plays a very great importance, being one of the four holiest places of India, "Char Dhams" (East Puri, Badrinath in the north, Rameshwaram in the extreme Dwarka south and west).
Regardless of the beauty of the sites, the place expresses a great suggestion. Those who have visited Varanasi where the pilgrims bathe in the river, also in Dwarka these ablutions take place on the seashore. Particularly interesting is the stretch of sea facing the temple where the only place in India, ablutions are performed on the shore (.. the writer here has received its baptism Hindu) NB Beware of the tide ...
The Temple of Dwarkanath is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is characterized by an imposing five-storey spire supported by 60 columns. Archaeological excavations on the site have unearthed the remains of five ancient city, now all submerged. Every year Dwarka hosts the most important celebrations of Janmashtami Festival, festival between August and September, commemorates the anniversary of the birth of Krishna.
